What is superscript text?
Superscript text is text rendered smaller and raised above the baseline, commonly used for exponents, footnotes, ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd), and chemical formulas (H₂O, x²). In rich-text editors this is applied as a formatting option, but Unicode defines dedicated superscript code points for digits and a subset of letters, so superscript can be used in plain-text environments as well.
Unicode superscript
Unicode superscript includes full coverage for digits 0–9 (U+2070, U+00B9, U+00B2, U+00B3, U+2074–U+2079), the plus, minus, equals, parentheses, and the letter n (U+207F). A partial set of lowercase and uppercase letters is available in the Phonetic Extensions block (U+1D2C–U+1D5C). Note that not every letter has a dedicated superscript form, so characters without a superscript mapping are left unchanged. This tool maps all available superscript characters.
When to use superscript
